I think it would be fantastic to have more competitions. Like, whenever you post a success you are entered into a draw - but only if your success report seems vaild. For instance, you added a lot of information, and perhaps even uploaded the picture you received.

Or... The member-added address that receives the most success reports gets a prize?

I think people will get more involved when there are competitions and prizes to be won.

LadyRaven, congrats on making it to Advisor status... I guess we should take your ideas seriously now

Totally kidding of course.

The idea is another good one... especially the draw aspect so different people have a good shot of winning each time.

We can also allow members to flag results that they feel are fake so we can eliminate fake results from the contest.

We'll put this in the works and plan to launch in a month or so... as we get more members active in the forums.

Hmmmm... I'm not to sure about the "flagging" fake results, as some people might do that purely for sabotage?

I think it's easier if Movie Eye decides whether they are fake or not.

I wish my scanner was working!! I want to add my successful pictures to my success reports.

Does anybody know if it's possible for the actual usb PORTS to get damaged? One of my printers and my scanner work on the USB ports. Neither of them register to my computer. The printer that works on the parallel port is working fine. Any ideas on what I can do?

hmm I am not sure about the usb port thing, that doesnt sound too good though. Im sure you can find some information about that on the net.

Do you have a digital camera?

Nope, I don't have a digital camera.

I've found out that it's the 2 USB ports at the front of my CPU that aren't working. The ones at the back are working, so my scanner works fine now.

Interesting...

If you're familiar with device manager, you can check in there to see if all your ports/devices are working. There's a chance that you can install a driver to get all of your ports working.

If that doesn't work, you can also buy a usb hub... which you plug into a usb port and the other end has 4 or 5 more usb ports.

I have one of them and it works good

Yeah my brother also has an external hub, as well as an external harddrive of 800gigs or something outrageous! lol.

Hi All, in the spirit of Raven's suggestion of having more contests, we'll be holding a monthly draw for members who contribute to the community.

I like the idea of "points" for each contribution.

For example:

- A mail result with a scan upload = 5 points.

- Without a scanned photo = 3 points

- A celebrity address submission = 3 points

- Another member posts a success on an address you posted = 7 points

- Upload a star's photo (feature still in the works) = 2 points

Each month, for each point you earned, you'll get 1 entry into the random drawing.

I still like the idea of giving 2 prizes... one for "the most points" and one for the random drawing winner.

Still haven't decided on:

1) How many points for each contribution. (does the above sound pretty good?)

2) Prizes... what would you like to win? Anything different?

Perhaps we could look into allowing you to "spend your points" on memorabilia on the main site.

All ideas are welcome and appreciated!

where are the contests 4 introducing new members, i can't find it. in a way it'll stop me from cheating, 'cause i certainly have alot of friends who want to join.hehehe

Nah.. Sometimes Movie Eye sees that somebody is contributing as much as they can, and they get to win the prize.. Like Meagan won the "random" draw this month because it was so close between the two of us..

I've noticed you contribute a lot, so don't lose hope! =)

Yes, I'd love to have more competitons! On another Autograph Collecting site, everytime you post a scan of your sucess and envelope, you are entered into a drawing for a $10 gift certificate.

Maybe we could do something like that?

That's on fanmail.biz, Kraken... but the problem is.. Movie Eye can't really afford that, as most of the members don't pay.. So it'd keep being money out of their pocket...
