Hi Movieeye,
could a feature be added where the members can report an address, or add a note to it, saying that it is no longer valid? And then maybe a line can be put through it so others know not to use it any more?
I have come across a few addresses that are no longer valid, but do not want to add a mail result to them saying they wont work, because it would be unfair to other members competing in the contest.

Hmmmm.... Sounds like a good plan, but I do see one problem.
Some of the SFM addresses no longer work for people in the US, but overseas fans still get results, because a lot of places are only seeing the shows or stars now. So that kind of address can't be "crossed out".
Other than that, I think it sounds great. Movie Eye let us know what you think. =) You can always confirm that our report is valid. =)

This would be helpful so that we don't waste our money sending postage to addresses that are no longer valid.

Interesting point Raven... so the address still works but they ignore the requests from certain parts of the world?
DG, it's a good idea. And also don't be worried about skewing the contest results. Thanks for your concern but I think it's more important for members to have relevant info.
Ok, we'll start working on adding this feature.

Hey all, just so you know the "report an address as outdated" feature has been added to the site.
There's a link under each address on the address details page for each celebrity.
Once you report an outdated address, it will filter to the bottom of the page.

With regards to this addition, I was thinking it would be nice to have a way of reversing it too. I saw the email address for Gordon Ramsay was reported as outdated because a person spelled Ramsay wrong. The email address is still working, but at a quick glance one would assume it no longer is.

I agree. Also, we have been having a bit of a problem with people reporting celebrities that are very alive as dead. We need a way to counter these claims.

yes i have suggested this in a PM to movie eye too but it says unread. I think this is also needed because I have seen stuff like this that people have just like others have too seen. |
