I remember when i was new here, i never sent an sase to anybody. (self addressed stamped envelope). It is very important that you try to always send out an sase.

Even just as a gesture.  I've had several celebs add postage to my envelopes, but I doubt they'd have sent anything if I didn't sent the envelope to begin with.

I see some comments in the database of people slamming celebrities for sending a note back requesting a SASE. I think people need to realize that it is just a common courtesy. You are requesting they do something nice for you so help them out. I have no probelem whatsoever sending an SASE to a star that sends authentic autographs. Its actually a very cheap hobby.

For sure - for about 2 dollars total for postage and envelopes, I can get autographs with endless emotional value. The SASE is a small price to pay for a wonderful result!

Indeed... Some people seem to think that celebrities are so rich, they can afford to do this, but if you think about the amount of fanmail they receive on a daily basis - they'd be blowing every cent they have just to respond to everyone.

SASE's are very important. I've also had some add postage, some even add cardboard, etc to make sure what arrives is not damaged.

I think a celebrity who sends back a note requesting an SASE is actually doing a GREAT thing. It's better than no response at all!

So yes.. Valid point.. Always send an SASE when requesting an autographed anything.

Yeah, it's great getting back a success without an SASE, but SASEs are definately vital in this hobby

I'm sending a request to the UK and have heard that you can put US stamps on your SASE instead of trying to find IRC's. How many Forever stamps do I need to use on my SASE? It's a 9X12 envelope and I am including one picture and a piece of cardboard.

What size sase do you send in your envelope? I am new at this and want to make sure I do everything properly. Is it okay if I don't have a photo to send to ask to be autographed?

I am extremely new to this hobby. I have a question, however. Do I need to send any items (i.e. a photograph, script, etc.) in order for me to get an autograph back (after I requested it)?

Hi there. No, you don't technically have to send something like that, but you're always welcome to if you want to. It's a personal choice. Good luck!

If it's a movie star who's done one movie that I especially like, I tend to try to find something from that movie to send. If you're fine with whatever they send, just send the SASE. No need to send an item unless you have a particular photo or something in mind.

Can someone tell me is it better to hand write the envelopes or print labels on the computer?  Also, how can I tell how many stamps to put on going to them and the one coming back?

Hi. I am sending an S.A.S.E but I would like to know if I should send U.K stamps (I live in scotland) or try to get a hold of some U.S stamps. Or should I just get a couple of pounds changed into dollars and send them along in the envelope. Please Reply

THATS TRUE. BUT I CONTACTED  DAVID CASSADY . I WAS ASKING ABOUT A SIGNED PHOTO OR 2 TO AUCTION OFF TO RAISE MONEY FOR ANIMAL SHELTER he said NO !!!he has his own
charities . So I replyed I guess but I was only talking about a lousy photo or 2 . Anyway To make a long story short . I was able to contact his Brother patrick Cassady through his ass. I kinda told her the story and said that some people get to big  for their britches . she agreed and promised me 2 of patrick cassady photos . she was very very nice . I did tell her that I understand that the reason they sell stuff is so they can eat and pay bills . But honestly some act like they  should not have to you a favor at all . But to make sure
you  buy the envelops that are made for PHOTOS so it will not bend. If anyway need SOME contact info or a web site 90% I can help

Hi! I'm new here. I have already read FAQ's, my welcome PM and this SASE topic. But i'm still pretty confused. I'm going to send my first autograph request...

Okay, so SASE is a Self- Adressed stamped envelope. I'm from Portugal, so I have to send a SAE (meaning= no stamps, but yes IRC's, right?). My question is: the SAE envelope is the envelope in which we send the letter, right? Or is it an envelope (inside my ORIGINAL envelope) where the celeb can send the autograph, already filled with my adress? Could you help me out?
Other thing is: could you help me findind pictures to sent for autograph requests? I don't have a printer, so if I could buy them or something??? I've read somewhere (I guess FAQ) that if you send something to autograph, it's more likely that the autograph is hand-writed, and not printed on what photo they chose.

I'm really sorry, because probably I'm off-topic, but I really wanted to do things right with my first autgraph request... Oh, and because of my english Confused I'm not sure if I wrote it all well, so you might not get my point. But thanks.

You were right when you said that a SAE is an envelope inside your ORIGINAL envelope where the celeb can send the autograph, already filled with your address.

I think we could all be more helpful if you possibly made a list of people that you would like to write and we can tell you if you need to send a photo or not.
