nazinaz, WELCOME!!Big%20smile
Here are a few tips to get you started.
1) Go to http://www.movieeye.com/celebrity_addresses/ to find addresses for your favorite celebs.
2) Send a nice, respectful letter accompanied by a SASE (9X12 envelope) (fold this envelope so it fits into the one you are sending).
3)  You can go to www.usps.com and order US stamps or send IRCs with your request. (I suggest US stamps).
4) Wait up to 6 months before sending another request as sometimes it takes a while for you to get a reply.
5) When you get a reply don't forget to submit your results on movieeye.
6) Share your successes and comments with the rest of on on this forum.

Welcome and help us make this forum the best.  We are here to help you !

Just buy 3 for each letter you are going to send. All you have to do is put it with your letter and with your 9x12" envelope inside the envelope you send to the celebrity. Good luck.

each IRC is worth 90 cents, so you dont really need that many.

I didn't think people from the US had to worry about IRCs. Am I wrong?

Hmmm... I dunno... I'm sure you could use them for UK addresses, but what I've seen so far, US stamps always work on SASE's to the UK. So, if I were you, nope, I wouldn't worry about IRC's.

Also, don't know if this was posted elsewhere, but the lady at the post office told me that each IRC pays for 1 ounce of mail  from the UK. I never weighed a standard envalope with my SASE inside so I don't know how much it weighs, but it feels like 2 or so ounces to me.

I did not know that!! Now I'm ticked because I have been spending more money than necessary on IRC's !! I'm in trouble when someone from South Africa knows more about American stamps than me lol

Here is something someone from the UK on another forum told me. I don't know what to believe regarding this issue:

You might get your sase back with your stamps still attached but UK currency would have been paid on it to get it out of the UK.
It really is impossible to have a success with USA stamps because 1) the dollar is not a recognised form of currency over here and 2) even if it was, the exchange rate is different.
F/A it costs me £1.58 to send a letter to the USA so if I used USA stamps to save money and put $1.58 worth on my sase instead, it wouldn't make it out of the country coz it would be 79p short.
If you are having successes with USA stamps it is only because the celebrity is ignoring your stamps and footing the return postage bill themselves. You might aswell save your USA stamps and just send an SAE coz your stamps aren't worth anything over here. If they were, we'd all be using them instead of the queens head!
Trust me, I've been doing this for eleven years AND I live in the UK so I know how Royal Mail works!

Meagan: thats not correct. It's called an exchange rate. naturally the Euro is worth more then the US Dollar. if it costs 1 euro, then we would need the equivilant in US Stamps. I normally do 2.25 US Stamps for what I would normaly place 1 dollar on. Last I heard, Euro is 2.40 to our dollar. Not only that, if you send american cash in the envelope, the people who recieve the envelope can exchange it over there. So to finalize my post, I stopped in the post office this morning, adn the post master told me that that it IS the only country that accepts out postage, so yes, you can use our stamps just equate the differential.

Thank you for asking that question. I always thought you could too, but this person seemed set on telling me that I was not correct. Good to know! Thumbs%20Up

The UK still uses Great British Pounds.. but... yeah... Euros is close enough. Heheh.

Yeah, I haven't had any problems with using US stamps on UK envelopes.. I have to put on $1.64 on most of my SASE's anyways.. so it makes no difference for me. =)

I was actually curious if we needed to put enough postage to equal the exchange rate too... I was going by our currency because someone else on the board said that the post master said 3 USA stamps is plenty to get your envelope sent back to the USA from the UK.
