No idea if anyone has already had a topic like this but what he heck!? We're always talking about new movies that are coming out, and new actors but does anyone have a favorite old movie, and/or actor? And by old I mean before 1950. Personally I love Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. I could watch their movies all day long. Besides that I would have to say one of my favorite old movies is Casablanca. And TV show wise...I love the any Griffith show

Where am I? Where are you? If I am there, then how are you here? Who are you? How are you? How am I? What am I? What are you?

I haven't seen too many old movies, but I have been getting into Marilyn Monroe lately.
I've been recording all her movies, so far I've seen Gentlemen Prefer Blondes(my favorite), Some Like it Hot, Prince and the Show girl, Niagara, No Buisness like show business, and Don't Bother to Knock.
I can't believe she died a year before my dad was born.

I really want to see Casablanca though, I also want to see gone with the wind.

Before 1950, I'd have to say my favorite films are:

It Happened One Night (1934)
Bringin' Up Baby (1938)
The Philadelphia Story (1940)
The Best Years of Our Lives (1946)

Between 1950 and 1965:

Rear Window (1954)
Marty (1955)
North By Northwest (1959)
The Apartment (1960)
The Magnificent Seven (1960)
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

This is my kind of thread! I love old movies! Clap I'd choose any Bette Davis movies as she is my idol! Heart I also love the old musicals with Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers. Follow The Fleet is my favourite! I could list so many more but I don't want to bore you Smile

Yeah, Steve McQueen was an amazing actor. One of the best there was. ;) Robert Shaw was great, too. Too bad he died a little to soon, also. :(

I couldn't agree with you more about The Hustler and On The Waterfront!! They're both amazing movies. I really love anything with Paul Newman in it. He's my all-time favorite actor. I love a lot of classics, a few that stand out are Citizen Kane, A Face In The Crowd (coincidentally, Andy Griffith is in it, and does a superb job), Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
