Thread removed.

It seems that someone has taken extreme exception at my attempt to have a friendly conversation in an attempt to understand and learn more.

They believe my words are intended as disrespect to Mr. Heston.

I have the utmost respect for such an amazing man. I am saddened by the news of his illness and feel for his demise and wish him well.

I also meant no disrespect to the person that appears offended. I was simply asking if he knew Mr. Heston. An innocent question. I was happy that someone might be able to tell me first hand what is really going on. There is so much speculation that I was hoping for someone to help us all out.

If this person cannot see that I am simply trying to find out information then perhaps I should leave this forum. I don't wish for there to be hard feelings and anger in a forum that has so much excitement and happiness.

Up til now I was enjoying sharing my experiences and knowledge with others here, but if people are going to start getting angry and yelling then I'm not sure this is the place to be.

The Charlton Heston I received looks a lot like yours... I too looked around on the net and came to the same conclusion you did: confusion.

I like to think he sat down one day and signed a bunch of photos in advance. That may account for the sloppiness of some. (Try sighning your name fifty times in a row, then compare the first to the last!) It also seems that if it is a secretarial, he's had the same secretary for fourty years!

Anyway, I wish him well, and hope his illness isn't hurting his spirit.

Doris Day recently changed the way she signs autographs... on purpose. Don't really know why. Maybe it's easier for her to sign a certain way now that she's getting older.

That's still not enough proof for the authenticity of his signatures. He has Alzheimer's and is getting near the age of 84. There has been many discussions about the authenticity of his photos and all have came out SECRETARIAL. You can even check an autograph collector expert for it...

Thats why he has a secretary to sign them. There is no way that he can sign all of his requests AND get them out within a week. Virtually impossible at his age to sign thousands upon thousands of requests per year. And can ya lay of the caps lock? Its kind of annoying...

You don't have to remove everything or leave. We get in an arguement ever once in a while...thats what makes us people...and autograph collectors. Just trying to get through to this guys thick head that Charlton Heston sends out secretarials. But noooo...won't accept that. I really admire Charlton's work and all, but this thread is good to keep going til we reach an agreement or stopping point on authenticity. This yelling and crap doesn't really have to do with you. Its between another member. So ya don't really have to leave about it. Wink Please stay! Big%20smile Your really a lot of help around here...

Thanks for the support Rockmadman2007. It seems impossible to have a friendly conversation about authenticity without some people getting angry. I'm referring to any celeb when I say that.

I can't say what the case was for the last year or so, but I believe Charlton Heston did send out authentic signatures.  I read an interview with him several years ago when I first started collecting, and I remember he said the following:

1. He always takes the time to sign for those who trouble themselves writing him
2. He doesn't like signing baseballs
3. He thought autograph collecting was a nice "cottage industry"
4. He himself collected presidential signatures

If anyone can find an online copy of that interview, that'd be awesome.

I think the idea that disagreements should be turned into fights isnt a good thing, but it is entertaining sometimes. I have read the secretarial arguement here as well as other sites. I have also read several places he felt sending out real one was important to his fan as well as a way to make his memory live on. So everyone will have to come to their own decission on if they feel what they have is a real autograph. Its ok to argue just dont fight. Hell If you have kept up with the forums you will see I am no longer welcome in Alabama because I dont think nascar is a sport.
