I started this topic so we can discuss the recent movies we've seen (in both theater and DVD) and review them.

Today, I went to see National Treasure: Book of Secrets. I'll be honest, I went into the theater with low expectations for this movie thinking that it would just be a horrible movie because the last one dominated the box office and they were greedy for more money. However, I am glad that I was proved wrong.

Usually producers will take a great movie and make a sequel. Sometimes these sequels are unbearable to watch. National Treasure: Book of Secrets was a pleasent suprise. The plot was engaging and the 124 minutes flew by.

Dispite the few far-fetched parts (i.e. kidknapping the President), National Treasure: Book of Secrets was interesting and is a great compliment to its predecessor.

Overall, I enjoyed the film and am eagerly awaiting news of a third.

8/10 stars

Cool idea for a thread. I just had a 24 hour movie festival and we watched

Hebrew Hammer
300
Shooter
Anchorman
Bourne Ultimatum
Cinderella Man

I want to see that national treasure.

24 hours? Wow, that's a long time. Are you sure your not blind yet. If you like the first NT, you'll really like NT2.

I recently watched the film Waitress on DVD.  It was written and directed by Adrienne Shelly who was murdered several weeks before the film's release.  She also played a role in the movie.  My wife wanted to watch it and I was reluctant at first, but it was a terrific piece of cinema.

I went into the film know Ms. Shelly had been murdered, which actually gave the movie new meaning.  The movie is on the "Chick Flick" side of the house, but could be appealing to anyone.  It focuses on the life of a waitress at a pie and coffee shop who finds herself in a very unhealthy marriage and pregnant.  Great acting, a solid script, and beautiful directing makes this film worth watching.

No I haven't. I have seen previews for it though but I don't think I'll like it. However, it does have Rainn Wilson (Dwight from "The Office") in it. He's pretty funny.

I saw BOTH Sweeny Todd AND National Treasure today. Both were phenomenal. 5 stars each. And that Juno looks interesting. It has one of the kids from superbad in it.

I saw Juno a few weekends ago. It's not for everyone, it definitely has the indie vibe. I really liked it and thought it was pretty funny.

It was only playing in one theater and it was all the way in Dallas so my friend and I drove about 40 or so minutes just to see it. It was also on a Saturday afternoon and the theater was at a mall so parking was ridiculous. It was worth it.

I definitely plan on seeing it again when it is playing closer to me. I think it comes out in more theaters tomorrow.

I have seen National Treasure 2. I really, really liked it. I'll give it 4 stars. I want to see Sweeney Todd sooo badly. I think I'm going to see it after Christmas dinner today. Speaking of which, Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. As for me, I never want to see another cookie again.

Since I got movie tickets as a present, so I may try and see I Am Legend. I heard it was great.

Since Christmas, I went to see I Am Legend and yesterday I went to see Untraceable. It was pretty good but it took while to get going.

Has anyone else went to see any movies lately?

I saw 27 Dresses yesterday. It was only okay. Nothing great.

I also saw the Bucket List. That was really good.

I went and saw Juno, and I did not like the movie at all. I thought it was actually boring and not funny. I was under the impression that it was going to be a funny movie. I'll give it a 4/10 stars. And last night I actually saw the movie Secret Window. Now that was a really good movie! It confused me in the beginning and at the end but it was great! 9/10 stars

I've heard that The Bucket List was a pretty corny movie. What do those critics know anyway?

I have never seen Secret Window, but it's a Stephen King book (or short story?) that I will be reading before I see the movie.

Has anyone went to see The Eye? That looks like a pretty good one.

Yeah. I enjoy scary movies, more suspense than anything. I can't stand gory scary movies. To me it's not scary it's disgusting!

This isn't really 'in the theater', but is anybody watching the new Knight Rider on CBS? Its a terrible rip-off from old one. Thumbs%20Down Doesn't even have the right...KITT. Its not the same w/o the Trans Am on there.

Not watching it. I was bummed when GMC wouldn't let Will Arnett do the voice of Kitt.

Last week, i went to see Untraceable at the movies. It was alright, nothing too special. The plot was average and they revealed the killer way too early in the movie.

Anyway, when I went down to find my theater, there were dozens of girls with their mothers lined up outside of the Hannah Montana auditorium (keep in mind that it was opening day). How pathetic is that? They must have been out there for hours. They even got the theater workers to take their pictures...I mean, come on!
