Okay everyone... so today I went to Office Max and bought a neat little organizer in an attempt to get more organized so I will be better at sending out letters.

Right now my computer sits on top of my desk because my mouse cord is too short to put my computer under the desk, but I bought a wireless mouse so I'm going to put my computer down below and set up my organizer thingy on top of my desk.

I'm excited. It was not cheap so I better use it!

Also, on a side note I bought a ton of really nice pens for only $3 because they were on clearance. So that made me happy.

And I bought all of the above with cell phone rebate cards so... even better!

If I ever get organized I'll post pictures.

Thumbs%20Up I really need to get mine organised and now that you mention it that is a great idea. I might go down to staples and see if they have a little drawer set thingy and a tabletop pen thing so I can organise my things. :D.
Nice one meagan.

I'm half way there. I got my mouse set up and my computer is now in its place below the desk. It feels so weird to sit at my desk and not have the noise from my computer right in my ear.

Now I just have to do the dreaded organizing. Confused

I have surges of organization... things will get messy and out of hand until I can't find anything, then I'll clean and organize like my life depended on it. Then six months later, the vicious cycle repeats itself! Confused

OMG leroy, thats the same as me, my room is such a wreck but like if things are lined up on a desk or something if one is even slightly at a different angle, i will adjust everything until it all matches up :S Weird huh? Its compulsive.

I finished organizing. I took before and after pictures and I tried to post them last night, but couldn't get online. I'll post them later on after work. I am really pleased with the set-up I have now.

BEFORE

AFTER

If you'll notice in the BEFORE photo there is a black filing cabinet to the right of my desk and I had a box full of autograph collecting supplies on it. In the AFTER picture you can see that the filing cabinet has nothing on top of it. I arranged everything nicely in the organizer thingy I bought.

My new little organizer...

The center shelves contain:

SASEs that have come back with stamps that I can reuse
Photos that I need to send
Letters I need to send and acid-free page protectors
Chipboard inserts to keep my photos from getting bent during mailing
9x12 envelopes
10x13 envelopes

The shelves on the left and right are mostly other envelopes and folded 9x12 SASEs that I have prepared. I have standard (#10) envelopes, greeting card sized envelopes and 6x9 envelopes. I use the greeting card sized envelopes and 6x9 envelopes for mailing 5x7 photos. I also have a few photo holders to keep my 5x7s safe during mailing.

The binder on top is what I keep my successes in (except SFM).

Now I have everything I need at arm's reach. I think this will help me be a better collector.

Oh I did some major desk cleaning before taking that before picture! That is just my desk clean before. I wouldn't dare take a picture of my desk messy.

But thanks. I'm going to try to keep it organized. I feel a lot better now. I have a lot going on in the next few weeks, but I'm hoping to get some letters out soon.

Writing the letters takes me the longest amount of time because I want them to be sincere.

I know what you mean... sometimes I sit for a half-hour before writing, just thinking of all the things that particular person has given me, then trying to put it in words, without sounding like a git.

I don't want it to be like, "Sincerity, I can fake that!"

Thats not too bad for looking as good as it is.

It takes me the longest time to write a letter. First i write it (which takes half an hour) then i read it over so many times i can basically recite it, then i send it. Ive written 4, sent one.

It's very durable.

I don't think I got ripped off. It was my choice to spend the money. Whatever works for the individual is fine.

This is good for me because it's just one thing that I can have to stay organized with. I don't need anything else and I know it's going to last for a very long time.

Nice job Meagan. I still have all of my 9x12 envelopes, labels, stamps, etc. scattered around on my desk. However, I did get around to putting my successes in a binder....a GREEN binder. So, I am on my way.

Very nice. :)

I find that if everything is within arms reach it is much easier for me to send out my requests.

I actually sent out six requests just the other day. The photos had been sitting around collecting dust and I finally sent them out. I only have 2 more celebs with photos that I have printed out and I'm waiting to get an address via venue for those. So the organizer has served its purpose. Hopefully I'll be feeling better next week and I can get some more requests out.

I like to thing of my desk as an "organized mess."

I know how you feel. I hav had 3 photos of Bill Nighy sitting around since August and I just never sent them. However, I am putting the envelope together right now.

Hope your well enough to enjoy Thanksgiving. :)

Happy Turkey day people. But more importantly, Happy Black Friday Eve!.

My question is, how many pics do you send in a request, if you send any. I find myself with two or three pics that i like, but i dont want to overwhelm the celeb i am sending them to. What do people recommend?

I did enjoy Thanksgiving. I got to spend time with my family and we played games and stuff and had a great lunch. I hope you all had fun too.

I send usually 1-2. I think 3 is the max and personally, I think anything more than that is a bit excessive.

Don't be offended the you get only one photo back signed though. Or sometimes they will sign and personalize them all for you. It really just depends on the person.
