Hello everyone,
Due to the recent demand for our free memberships, we're changing our hosting provider to a company that can handle our server load.
So we're scrambling to get things in order for this change. Rest assured that we'll handle it in the best way possible to minimize downtime.
Here's what you can expect:
1) New features will be temporarily on hold for about 3 weeks.
2) Sometime in the next couple weeks, the main site (www.movieeye.com) will be down for about an hour while the actual transfer happens. We'll let you know in advance.
3) After the change, I'm sure some of you will notice minor bugs that will need to be fixed. Please let us know about them and we'll fix them ASAP.
4) A week or so after the change, after any bugs have been worked out, we'll aggressively add features to the site based on your suggestions.
We have a new contest that was supposed to launch February 1st, but it will have to wait until March 1st.
For now, nothing has changed and you can go about searching Movie Eye and posting to the forums as usual. As things progress, we'll update this post to let you know.
We really appreciate everyone's patience and support in the next few weeks while we make this change.
The new server will support many thousands more users and we'll build an awesome community together

In reality, there should be very little, if any, downtime but I wanted everyone to know about our plans. It will go smoothly
 LadyRaven, winner is announced March 5th for the current contest. It will take a couple days to tally up all the contributions. (and there are a lot!)

Hello all, we're a little ahead of schedule with the server transfer preps so it looks like it will happen tonight.
The eta for the transfer is midnight pacific time. Any hits to the main site will redirect to a page that says we're "down for maintenance" and that the forum is still operational.
It should take roughly an hour if everything goes well.
Hope this isn't a major inconvenience for anyone.

Cool. At least you'll know exactly how the server change over will work if you have to do it again. Glad to hear that no information will be lost. I think it's gonna be tough to choose a winner for the contest in the end - hard work to add up "points". LOL. |

lol LadyRaven, we'll ask the database a lot of questions and it'll chug along and crank out the answers. Then we'll eye-ball the answers for sanity's sake and make sure the winners make sense. There have been a lot of contributions though!
Btw, the site has been transferred. Please post any quirks and oddities that you find so we can fix them... and then we can shift back to moving forward full steam

Hi there.
Well, I've found a glitch. You know how when you search a name - the closest match would be at the top of the list? It's not like that anymore. I just searched John Travolta, and he was halfway down the list of names that came up.
