So someone told me that personal requests to two actors may go unfulfilled, so I have been inspired to write to A Steady Rain c/o the stage manager. I REALLY want this playbill. Also writing to:

Wicked (stage manager for signed playbill)
Jersey Boys (stage manager for signed playbill)
God of Carnage (stage manager for signed playbill)
Bye Bye Birdie (stage manager for signed playbill)
Daniel Craig - sending a specific Defiance print I'd like signed

I have switched back and forth from hand writing and typing my letters. I find that I'm more motivated to send letters if I type them because I'm much faster at typing than I am at writing. I think as long as you sign it and maybe write a short note at the end then it still has a personal touch.

Nothing motivates me more than a dry spell. If I go two weeks with nothing, I will literally write to the first person I even remotely like who has had a recent success with a turnaround under a week. I don't spam, but (for example) I'd rather have Pete Rose's auto than Phil Cavarretta. Phil Cavarretta has a speedy turnaround, so I wrote him instead. I'll write Pete eventually, but I have a ton of long wait time requests out and can't stand such a long spell with nothing.

Also, my bookstore at school only sells stamps in sheets of 10 or 20. I buy 20 at a time, enough for 5 or 6 requests (playbill requests take 3 stamps, photo requests 4). Today, for example, I was out of stamps and really wanted to write to Daniel Craig individually and to get the Steady Rain playbill signed by both. That left me with 13 more stamps, and I was already on Broadway.com getting addresses, so I started by thumbing through the "Celebs on Stage" section, then the musicals section. I picked the few that I wanted most / had the shortest run left and wrote to those. Playbill requests take more or less the same form, so the Daniel Craig letter was the only real long, deep one. The playbills were all uniform "Dear Sir/Madam, I saw show x on date y in city z and loved it. These members of your cast are personal favorites of mine. I hope to come up to NY and see the show soon. Can I please have a signed playbill?" I really only had to write the letter once, so it was quick.

Tomorrow, I'm sending a letter to David Lee Smith.  Testing an addy *crosses fingers*
