UPDATE:

Stephen, Tabitha, and Owen will only be signing ONE BOOK per audience member (In a way, I am glad of this. If I had 3, it wouldn't seem as special as if I only had one).

Also, due to events popularity, the reading will be held at The Lutheran Church of the Reformation. This is across from the Folger. After the reading, the signing will take place back at the Folger.

It's alot of moving around, but I think It'll be worth it. Thumbs%20Up

Well, since my mom is also going, she is getting one for me. So I'll have two. I am thinking of bringing Pet Sematary and Needful Things.

Since I have some extra time, I am going to start reading The Stand today (got out of school early...snowing!!). Depending on how I like that, I might bring that one in place of another.

Hey Kraken! You notice how after it was announced on the SK board tix sold out real fast! LOL I can't wait!

I found my Stephen King Promo poster for Insomnia, now I can't decide whether to get that or Carrie signed. The book would be cool because it's already signed by Sissy Spacek but the poster would display so much better!

Yeah, it was pretty amazing how tickets sold out immeadiately after it was announced on the SK board and Liljas-Library.

Depending on the book and poster conditions, you would have to decide between the two (obviously). If the book is paperback or Book Club edition, I personally wouldn't get it signed.

For the poster, it would display great!! However, I think it would be cool if you got something signed that he wrote.

You have a REALLY hard decision to make. Let me know which you choose!

I'll post a full report when I return. I'm sure it's going to be a very nice (and long!) event.

Still haven't decided which book to take though...I only have 14 days!

Getting ready to leave for DC now. We're going to get in line for tickets at 6pm and doors open at 7:30pm. I just hope it doesn't rain while I'm waiting outside for 1.5 hours. LOL

I'll give a full report tomorow. I would tonight, but it will probably be pretty late when I get back.

See you guys later.

Well, it was awesome yesterday! We left the house around 2:00pm and got home around 1:00am (late night, but well worth it). When we got to Union Station, we ate lunch and walked around. That place is huge! It has restaurants, shopping, and even a movie theater. You could practically live there.

After we ate, we walked around DC for awhile until it was time to get in line for tickets. We saw the Washington monument, the Captiol Building, Supreme Court building, and a couple others. One of the monuments that we came to (we thought!) was the Lincoln Memorial. Well, we asked the guard what this monument was, and he responded by saying, "You've got to be kidding, right? this is the Supreme Court." Go figure.

By the time we were done looking at the monuments, it was just about time that I wanted to get in line (about 6:00pm). We waited on the church steps for an hour and a half with a bunch of people. It was really cool to be able to talk to people that came from all around the country to be there. The wait went by really quick because there were so many people to talk to.

Finally at 7:30pm, the doors opened so we could pick up our tickets from the Will Call window. When we advanced to Will Call, they gave us our tickets and sent us to the back of the line. They did that with everyone. Once everyone picked up their tickets, we were about in the middle of the line. Keep in mind there were about 475 people there! The doors opened again, and everyone went in to get their seats. It was really cool because I was in the 4th row from the front. Being that the first 3 rows were reserved, I was as close as I could possibly get.

Once everyone was seated, a person from the Folger introduced Stephen, Tabitha, and Owen. Tabitha read first, then Owen, and Stephen read last. The reading lasted for about an hour/hour and a half. Following the reading there was a short Q&A with the Kings. I didn't get a chance to ask a question though.

When the Q&A was finished, we all went across the street to the Folger for the signing and reception. It was 8 or 9:00pm by that time. While we were in line, there was a lady from a small newspaper that said she wanted to ask me how I first became interested in Stephen King, so I told her. I gave her my address and she said she's send me a copy of the paper when it was published. I thought that was pretty cool.

The line for the signing went pretty fast and we weren't waiting outside for too long (at least it didn't rain!). I was suprised at how organized everyone was - no rushing, no running to be the first in line, no pushing, etc. It was really nice. Once we actually got in the building, there were drinks and some food that we could take while we were waiting in line. Once we got up to the front of the line, there was a room that we went into where the Kings were signing the books. A lady asked us to see our ticket stub to prove that we actually bought a ticket. We finally got into the room and there were about a dozen or so people ahead of us.

When I was next in line, I opened my book (The Stand) to the title page so he could sign it. Because it was so late and there were alot of people, they really pushed the line along fast and we really weren't able to say alot to him. I handed the book to his assistant who then handed it to Stephen King and he signed it for me. I shook his hand and he thanked us for coming out and waiting all this time. We left the signing room around 11:30pm and went back to Union Station to get our car and drive home.

I had a great time and am glad that I was able to go. However, they prohibited pictures so I don't have too many to post, but I do have some pictures of DC and I was able to snag one picture of all three Kings. Wink

Boy no mention of me, oh well, guess I can't compete with Stephen King :)

I got there about 2pm and was the first in line, a few more from the SK message board joined me between 3 & 4 and then more people straggled in over the next hour or so until the steps & sidewalk were full. I spotted Ricky when he showed up and went down to intro myself. I think his mom was a little freaked, wanting to know how I knew him and all so I didn't stick around too long.

When we got in I got the best seat in the house, the right side had the first 3 rows reserved for folgers board members and the left side only had the front row reserved for press so we headed to the left. I got second row, right in front of SK! It was awesome hearing them read. I really enjoyed Owens new story which surprised me, hes a good writer but his book didn't really grab me. I'll make sure to check out his new stuff though.

The signing was rushed, I got to talk to Tabitha and Owen for a few minutes but when it came to SK we were hurried through like cattle. 1 autograph, No personalizations, no photos, no time to talk. Bit the man is the #1 writer in the world so just to see him and get any kind of signature is an honor!

Afterwards I was outside with a couple members of the message board and we walked around the side and smack into Tabitha & SK! They didnt stop and talk or anything but they talked as they walked so that was really cool.

I spent today at the air & space museum and got some great shots there and on the mall, caught my train home tonight and now am finally going to crash. I'm pulling pics off my camera and will upload on a quick page and give a link as soon as its done.

It was really nice meeting you there. Sounds like we both got really good seats. Smile

You're lucky you got to steal some pictures. I was furious when they said NO pictures OR personalizations. I guess it was really rushed because it was so late. If it was afternoon, I doubt it would  have been like that. I have some pictures of DC and one of all three kings on the "stage". If it didn't turn out, do you think Wal-Mart can fix it? Confused

I guess I was kind of lucky because there was a big gap between me and the people behind me for the signing, so I got to talk to Mr. King for a minute and shake his hand. That was worth it to me even if we weren't allowed personalizations.
